3.3.14.7 Cabinet Tag. A warning tag, bearing the information "ENGINE
PRESERVED, AIR CLEANER, EXHAUST PIPE, ALTERNATOR AND STARTER SEALED - REMOVE
SEALS BEFORE STARTING ENGINE" shall be secured in a conspicuous location in
the operator's control box cabinet or main control panel cabinet.
CAUTION: ENGINE SHALL NOT BE OPERATED AFTER PROCESSING
PER PARA. 3.3.14.1 thru 3.3.14.7.
3.3.15 Magazine Gearbox, Pump Drive Assembly, Rotary Actuator Case, and
Vehicle Speed Sensing System Gearbox. Both magazine gearboxes, pump drive
assembly, and rotary actuator case shall be filled to operating level with
lubricating oil conforming to MIL-L-2105, grade 80/90 as specified in the
applicable drawing, specification or lubrication order. Vehicle speed sensing
system gearbox shall be filled to operating level with lubricating oil
conforming to MIL-L-2105, grade 75 as specified in the applicable drawing,
specification or lubrication order. These systems shall be operated through
all ranges for a minimum of two (2) minutes at sufficient speed to assure
lubricant coverage of all interior parts and surfaces. DD Form 1397 (see
3.3.1) shall be completed to indicate grade and type of lubricating oil used.
3.3.16 Magazine Reel Drive Chain, Drive Sprocket, and Infeed Conveyor
Drive Chain. Both reel drive chains, drive sprockets, and conveyor drive
chains shall be coated with enough type P-3 or P-9 preservative to insure
penetration of the preservative to the inner surfaces of the rollers, pins and
bushings. Excess preservative shall be removed. All surfaces of the chains
and sprockets shall be coated with type P-19 preservative.
3.3.17 Pinion Gear, Bearing - Turn Table, Leveling Jack, Swivel and Lock
Pin, Trunnion Axle, and Wheel Bearings. Pinion gear and bearing - turn table
shall have gear teeth, bearings and any unpainted surfaces coated with type
P-11 preservative grease. Leveling jacks, swivel and lock pins and trunnion
axle shall have fittings, sliding or moving parts or any unpainted surfaces
coated or packed with type P-11 preservative. Wheel bearings shall be packed
with type P-11 preservative. Excess preservative shall be removed after
application.
3.3.18 Hydraulic Reservoir and Hydraulic System. Hydraulic reservoir
shall be filled to a sufficient level for operation with hydraulic fluid
conforming to MIL-H-6083 as specified in the applicable drawing, specification
or lubrication order. The hydraulic system shall be operated through all
ranges for a minimum of two (2) minutes at a sufficient speed to assure fluid
coverage of all interior parts and surfaces. Completely drain hydraulic fluid
from reservoir. Hydraulic fluid may be reused if not contaminated.
3.3.19 Brake Systems, Air-Hydraulic. Exterior, unpainted, or threaded
surfaces such as cables, clevises, and linkage of service and hand brakes and
disc brake on launcher wheel shall be coated with type P-19 preservative.
