shown in Figure 6. Fiberboard boxes containing card assemblies 1 thru 14
shall be placed on their sides into the wood box on top of the bottom
cushion. Fiberboard boxes containing card assemblies 15, 16 and 17 shall be
laid flat and placed on top of the other boxes and then the top cushion placed
over these boxes. Filler materiel, PPP-F-320, shall be added around contents,
as required, for tight packing. Wood box shall be closed by strapping with
two (2) metal straps, class 1, type I, finish B, size 3/4 in, QQ-S-781. The
exterior of wood box shall be marked indicating contents, in accordance with
MIL-STD-129.
3.3.6.1 Wood Box With Printed Circuit Card Assembly On Dispenser. The
packed and strapped wood box containing the printed circuit card assembly (see
3.3.5 and Figure 6) shall be placed on top of the operator's control box
storage cabinet. The box shall be secured in place with two (2) metal straps,
class 1, type I, finish B, size 3/4 in, QQ-S-781, positioned widthwise and one
metal strap lengthwise over the box and down the sides and ends and under the
cabinet. A piece of solid fiberboard, PPP-F-320, shall be placed at each
contact point between the strapping and the storage cabinet.
3.3.7 Rubber Tires. For shipment by all modes of transportation except
over the road, tires mounted on wheels (road tires) shall be inflated to 10
pounds above pressure recommended for a maximum load. Spare tire and
launcher tire shall be inflated to normal operating pressure and preserved in
accordance with MIL-T-46755.
3.3.8 Cleaning and Drying. Exterior surfaces of the dispenser shall be
free of dirt, dust, grease and any other contaminants. Exposed surfaces for
which application of a preservative is specified shall be cleaned and dried in
accordance with any applicable process and procedure of MIL-P-116 which will
accomplish cleaning and not damage the item.
3,3.9 Miscellaneous Preservation. All exterior, unpainted surfaces
including all surface type finishes such as black oxide chromates and
phosphates shall be coated with type P-19 preservative. This includes, but is
not limited to, safety chains, springs, both lunette assemblies, tube
fittings, brackets, clamps, leveling jacks and drawbar surfaces exposed by
disassembly. All exposed oil can points such as, but not limited to, levers,
locking bars, latches, hinges, hinge pins, locking pins, lunette pins, locking
levers, linkage and threaded ends of yokes and related clevis pins shall be
lubricated with oil conforming to P-9 preservative. Working mechanisms of
padlocks, latches, door locks and hand operated locking knobs shall be
lubricated with graphite conforming to SS-G-659. Excess lubricant shall be
removed after lubrication.
3.3.10 Cooling System. Cooling system shall be protected by one of the
following procedures: For shipment to, and storage in areas where the
temperature drops below minus 40°F, system shall be protected as specified
in 3.3.10.1. For all other shipments and storage, the cooling system shall be
